Wood, Thomas Alexander, 1837-1904.
Thomas Alexander Wood was born in Montgomery County, Illinois on March 1, 1837. In 1852, he crossed the plains to Oregon, but returned east later to study for the ministry. In 1862, he married and returned to Oregon where he worked various jobs until accepting the Methodist pastorate in Roseburg. He fought in the Indian wars and eventually served as commander of the Indian War Veterans Association of Oregon.
