Chatham Academy. Trustees

Chatham Academy was incorporated as a state academy in 1788. It became part of the Savannah public school system in 1869. In 1899 the building burned and a new one was erected with funds in the keeping of the Trustees of Chatham Academy. In 1908, the Chatham Academy fronting on Bull Street was built, also from funds from the Trustees supplying the cost for erection. In 1957, the Trustees, under an Act of the General Assembly of Georgia, transferred and conveyed all properties real and personal to the Board of Public Education of Savannah and turned over to the Georgia Historical Society all extant minute books.
