Biography
William J. Losh was born in Oakland, California, October 1, 1896. After serving in World War I in the Army Ambulance Service, he returned to graduate from Stanford University in 1920. He worked as manager of the California Stelos Company and later as a newspaper reporter for the San Francisco NEWS (1933-34) and as a columnist for the San Francisco EXAMINER (1934-38). In 1939, he formed a public relations firm with John C. Lee and specialized in publicity for various conservation interests. He served as a member of the San Francisco Mayor's United Nations Conference Committee (1951), and executive secretary of the Trustees for Conservation (1954). He died in Oakland, October 28, 1973.
