Thompson, Joseph Trueman, 1891-1977.

Joseph Trueman Thompson was a professor of civil engineering, The Johns Hopkins University.

He was born in Baltimore in 1891 and received the B.S. degree from Hopkins in 1917. After service in France during World War I, Thompson returned to Hopkins in 1919 as professor of civil engineering, a position he held until his retirement in 1958. Thompson was chairman of the civil engineering department, 1930-1956. He also held a number of governmental posts dealing with highway research, a field in which he was regarded as an expert, and he was the author of many professesional papers on the subject of roads. Joseph Trueman Thompson died in Baltimore January 6, 1977.
