University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. News Bureau

The News Bureau had its origin in the appointment, in 1919, of a director of publications, who was responsible for keeping the state's newspapers informed of the activities of the University of North Carolina. In 1921, that position's title changed to director of the News Bureau. In 1955, the News Bureau became part of the Division of Developmental Affairs, later the Division of Development and University Relations. The name of the News Bureau changed to News Services in 1990.
