Crocheron, B. H. (Bertram Hanford), 1882-1948
Bertram Hanford Crocheron was born on May 21, 1882, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He received his B.S. (1908) and M.S. (1909) from Cornell University. He then served for four years as principal of the Agricultural High School in Sparks, Maryland. In 1913, Crocheron came to the University of California to start a state-wide agricultural extension service. In 1919, he became Director of Agricultural Extension, a position which he held until his death in Berkeley on July 8, 1948.
