Originally composed as a sonata for two violins, op. 7, no. 1, 1956. Arranged for strings in 1956. Title changed to Sonata for strings. First performance Stockholm, 10 October 1958, under the title: Serenata per Archi, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Sten Frykberg conductor.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
