Blanton, Arthur, 1903-
Born 1903. In military service 1925-28. Reenlisted 1934 and became Corporal (1936), Sergeant (1937) and was stationed with 10th Infantry in Kentucky. Appointed Master Sergeant (1941) in Counter Intelligence Corps. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant (1942), Captain (1943), Major (1945) and Lt. Colonel (1947). Worked at processing displaced persons in Germany, counter-intelligence, and had charge of Italian POW's in Lorraine, Ohio (1944-45). Continued to work in intelligence (1948); with 1st Infantry Division (1949-51) and was stationed at Indiantown Gap (1951-52). Was senior member of U.S. negotiating team in Korea during armistice talks (1953-54). Head of a reserve unit at Kearney NJ. (1955-57). Retired 1957.
