Baumgartner, Roland
Roland Baumgartner was born in Boscobel, Wis. in 1910. He was a graduate of the State University at Madison, Wis. Baumgartner joined the 10th Mountain Division and served with the Quartermaster Battalion and with the 87th Infantry Regiment, Companies C and F. He was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo., Camp Swift, Tex. and Kiska Island, Alaska. While engaged in combat operations against German forces occupying Italy, Baumgartner was awarded the Bronze Star for his action in the Apennine Mountains and the Po valley in April, 1945. He attained the rank of Captain.
