Dunnington, G. Waldo (Guy Waldo), 1906-
Dunnington. Professor of German Language and Literature at Northwestern State University of Louisiana (NSU) and biographer of Carl Friedrich Gauss. Dunnington, born in Bowling Green, Mo., attended Washington and Lee University (B.A. and M.A.) and the University of Illinois (Ph. D.). He also studied at Göttingen University and Mount Holyoke College. Before coming to NSU he taught at St. Louis (Mo.) Junior College, Atlantic University, Horner Junior College, and LaCrosse Wisconsin State College. Awards and honors: Howard Houston Fellowship, Alexander Von Humbolt Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa, Delta Phi Alpha, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Phi Kappa, Phi Delta Kapa, life member of the Gauss Society, and honorary member of the Jean Paul Society; dissertation on Jean Paul; author of Carl Friedrich Gauss: Titan of Science; A Study of his Life and Work (New York: Exposition Press), 1955.
