Passow, A. Harry.

A. Harry Passow was Professor of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, from 1952 to 1991 and was named Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Education in 1972. He served as chair of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching (1968-1977) and as director of the Division of Educational Institutions and Programs (1975-1980). From 1952-1965 he directed the pioneering Talented Youth Project and in 1966-1967 served as director of a major study of the Washington, D.C. public schools designed to identify causes and remedies for the perceived crisis in urban education. From the 1970s on, Passow extended his work to Israel, serving as visiting professor at universities in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and as adviser to various educational projects.
