Fix, George J., 1939-

George J Fix Jr. was born in Buffalo, New York in 1911 and his family came to Dallas, Texas in 1921. Fix graduated from Texas A& M with a B.S. in 1932 and a masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1933. In 1937 George Fix married Frances Bartlett in Dallas, Texas. He served in the Army Air Corps 1941-1946, serving both as a combat observer and an ordnance expert, rising to the rank of Colonel. Since the war, he returned as a consultant three times on special weapons analysis jobs. Joined the Dallas Rotary club in 1948, serving as its president in 1958.He oversaw the International Rotary Convention, which was held in Dallas in 1958. Fix sat on the Board of the Presbyterian Hospital during the 1980s and served on several committees of the Texas A&M School of Engineering Alumni.

George J Fix Jr. joined his fathers company, George J Fix Co in 1933. It was established by George J Fix Sr. in 1921 and specialized in engineering sales. Fix Jr. became president of the company in 1953. The George J Fix Company had offices in several cities, such as Houston, Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Longview. In August 1968 the George J Fix Company was purchased and made a subsidiary of Burgess Industries, in which he joined the Burgess Industries as President of Power Equipment Sales. He retired from Burgess Industries in December of 1976.
