Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company
Incorporated in Virginia in 1848 as Lynchburg and Tennessee Railroad Company; name changed to Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company in 1849; ran from Lynchburg, Va., to Bristol, Tenn. (204 miles); consolidated with Southside, Norfolk and Petersburg, and Virginia and Kentucky railroads in 1870 to form Atlantic, Mississippi & Ohio Railroad Company.
