Vogel, Clayton Barney, 1882-1964

Clayton Barney Vogel (b. Sept. 18, 1882, Philadelphia, Pa.-d. Nov. 26, 1964), Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps, graduated from university and was commissioned in 1904. He served in China, the Canal Zone, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua. During the Second World War, he was commanding general of the 2nd Marine Division; the Amphibious Corps, Pacific Fleet; I Marine Amphibious Corps; and Fleet Marine Force, San Diego Area. He ended his military career as commanding general of Marine Barracks, Parris Island until his retirement in January 1946.
