Came to Michigan, 1796; was ensign in U.S. Army, 1797; 1st lieutn., 1799; captain, 1803; resigned Jan. 1807; associate judge of Northwestern Territory District Court, 1809; proprietor of Mansion House, 1818-1824; Register of deeds, 1826-30; keeper of lighthouse at La Paysance Bay, 1830; died in Monroe County, about Jun. 5, 1837.
