Jolly, Charles, 1803-1875

Born in New Jersey, Charles Jolly moved to Dearborn County, Ind. around 1830, and worked as a carpenter and farmer. He was a founder of the local Republican Party and served as postmaster for Logan. His son, William Henry Jolly, worked with his father as a builder and served with the 83rd Indiana Volunteer Regiment during the Civil War as a nurse in Army hospitals. He died of typhoid fever in 1863.
