Harvard College (1780- ). Dean of Students.
The office of the Dean of Students was established in 1952 following the decentralization of the Harvard College administration in 1950. Prior to that time, the duties of the Dean of Students had been carried out by a variety of college officers including the Dean of Harvard College, the Associate Dean of Harvard College, and the Regent of the College. Office holders 1935-1999 include Delmar Leighton, Robert B. Watson, and Archie C. Epps.
