Wisconsin. Division of Highways
With the reorganization of state agencies in 1967, the former State Highway Commission (WIHV85-A1883) became the Division of Highways under the direction of a continuing Highway Commission within the newly created Department of Transportation (WIHV85-A1884). The division was a distinct unity of the department and exercised its powers indpendently of the department head except for budgeting, program, coordination, and related management functions. The Division was renamed the Division of Highways and Transportation Facilities (WIHV86-A1913) in 1979.
The Division of Highways was responsible for all matters pertaining to the expenditure of state and federal funds for the design, construction and improvement of highways.
