Adams, Alva Blanchard, 1875-
The Adams family was long prominent in Colorado government and politics. Alva A. Adams moved to Pueblo, Colo., in 1871, and later served as governor of the state. Alva B. Adams, son of the Governor, represented Colorado in the U.S. Senate during 1923-1924 and from 1932 until his death in 1941. The Senator's son, Pueblo businessman Alva B. Adams, sought the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1954 and 1956.
Governor Alva Adams served three terms as governor of the state, (1887-1889, 1897-1899 and 1905) while his brother William H. "Billy" Adams served as governor of the state, from 1927 to 1933.
