Lee, Mary, 1891-1982

Author and journalist, (Radcliffe, A.B., 1917, A.M., 1920), Lee went to France in 1917 with the Massachusetts General Hospital Unit, transferred to the U.S. Air Service in Paris, and then was with the Army of Occupation in Germany until Oct. 1919. She wrote a controversial book about WWI, which was originally titled "The Farce" but renamed It's a Great War when it was finally published in 1929. A free-lance writer for The New York Times and the Atlantic Monthly, Lee was active in Greek War Relief during WWII.
