Newbey, Ken R.
Botanist and ecologist. He was a farmer in the Ongerup District of WA until a severe heart attack left him incapable of carrying out agricultural work. In 1976 he began postgraduate studies at Murdoch University, completing a Masters degree in plant ecology in 1979. Based at his farm (which was run by his son) he played a major role in the development of the Fitzgerald National Park biosphere project.
