Marymount Manhattan College

Founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Began in 1930 as courses offered to graduates of Marymount School at Fifth Avenue and East 83rd Street as a substitute for admission to the residential Marymount College at Tarrytown, New York. Moved to its present address in 1948. Received a charter as an independent college in 1961. Added a second building named for trustee Joseph C. Nugent in 1974. Currently nondenominational and co-educational.
