Shapiro, Henry D.
Henry D. Shapiro is the author of Confiscation of Confederate property in the North (1962), Strange land and peculiar people: the discovery of America (1966), Appalachia on our minds: the Southern mountains and Mountaineers in the American consciousness, 1870-1920 (1978), and Ethnic diversity and civic identity: patterns of conflict and cohesion in Cincinnati since 1820 (1992). He received his Ph. D. from Rutgers University and taught history at University of Cincinnati until 2002.
