Historical Records Survey. New Mexico.

The New Mexico Historical Records Survey program was carried out from 1935-1936 as a project of the Division of Professional Service Projects of the Work Progress Administration, led by Dr. Luther H. Evans. The purpose of this program was to compile inventories of historical materials as well as unpublished government documents and records to be housed in the Library of Congress. These records provide a rough sketch of the historical background of the region.

The State of New Mexico benefitted from this project through funding for architectural, historical, literary and folkloric projects. Individuals associated with this project include Adolph Bandelier, George P. Hammond, Clinton P. Anderson, Donald Dreeson, and John Gaw Meem.
