Wisconsin. Commissioners of Fisheries

Session laws of 1874 (chapter 253) created this body stating, "commissioners [are] to receive all spawns of fish of all kinds donated by the general government to the state of Wisconsin." The commissioners' duties were more fully defined by chapter 307 of the Session Laws of 1876. The commissioners were abolished in 1915 when they were merged with several other agencies to create the State Conservation Commission (WIHV86-A1162).
