Bauer, Robert A., 1910-2003
Robert Albert Bauer (b. Aug. 29, 1910, Vienna, Austria-d. Sept. 27, 2003), radio broadcaster, writer, editor, lecturer. He worked for Free Austria Radio in France in 1939 and 1940. Fleeing Nazi-occupied France, he immigrated to the United States where he worked as a broadcaster and division chief at the Voice of America from 1942 to 1958. He served as U.S. Information Agency Radio Program Manager in 1953, then as a public and cultural affairs officer at the Department of State from 1958 to 1972.
