Whitaker, Walter C. (Walter Claiborne), 1867-1938
Ledger was created by Walter H. Whitaker when he operated a general store in Oddville, 4.5 miles northeast of Cynthiana, Harrison County, Ky. Oddville was first settled 1799 by the family of Josiah Whitaker, a Methodist minister. In 1851 Hezekiah Whitaker, a local shopkeeper, applied for the establishment of a post office. The post office was in operation from June 5, 1851 to 1903. At that time the post office became extinct.
