Freystätter, Martin,
Freystätter served as a judge on the 1894 military tribunal in which Alfred Dreyfus was convicted of treason; he was also called to testify in the 1899 retrial. Of all the judges and officers on the tribunal, Freystätter was the only one to state publicly that his decision was a mistake and that he and the other judges had been swayed by a secret dossier presented to them and unknown to the defense.
From the description of Captain Freystätter correspondence concerning the Dreyfus Affair, 1899-1902, n.d. (University of Pennsylvania Library). WorldCat record id: 276930334
