Philip Ivor Dee (1904-1983), physicist. Educational background: Marling School, Stroud; Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge; Stokes student, Pembroke College, Cambridge (1930<U+2013>33). Professional experience: Cavendish Laboratory; Fellow of Sidney Sussex College (1948) and University Lecturer (1934); Superintendent of the Ministry of Aircraft Production TRE (telecommunications research establishment); Lecturer in Physics, Clarendon Laboratory (1934-1943); Professor of Natural Philosophy, University of Glasgow (1943-1972). Honors: Fellowship of the Royal Society (1941), appointment to OBE (1943) and CBE (1946), and the Hughes medal (1952). Research interests: cloud chambers, transmutation of atoms, accelerators, energy sources for radar, nuclear science.
