Brown, Edith Blake, d. 1907.

Edith Blake Brown was an interior decorator. In 1889, she married John L. Wilkie, a New York City lawyer. They had a son named John. Edith died in 1907. Although a lawyer, Wilkie was also interested in the history of the Hudson Valley.

Brown taught clay modeling and drawing in several area private schools including Miss Pierce's School in Brookline, MA and Miss Hazard's School in Boston. Brown became the director of the North Bennet Industrial School of Boston, and in 1908 was appointed director and designer of the S.E.G. Bowl Shops. Her first illustrations were published in The Churchman around 1899, and she illustrated a number of publications between 1900 and 1910. She was also a member of the Copley Society of Boston.
