Huntington, Thomas Waterman, 1849-
Thomas Waterman Huntington (1849-1929) was born in Rockford, Illinois on January 16, 1849. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1871 and from Harvard Medical School in 1876. He moved to Sacramento California, where he became chief surgeon of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1885. He was appointed professor of clinical surgery at the University of California Department of Medicine in 1899, retiring as professor emeritus in 1912. Later in life he was the chief surgeon of the Western Pacific Railway, and did relief work in Europe after World War I. He died in San Francisco on April 19, 1929.
Thomas Waterman Huntinton, Jr. was born in Sacramento on May 8, 1893. After studying medicine and working in the oil industry he pursued a career as a writer, poet, and bibliographer. He died in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 1973.
