Festing, Francis, Sir, 1902-1976
Francis Wogan Festing (Sir) (b. Feb. 28, 1902, Dublin, Ireland-d. Aug. 3, 1976, Northumberland, U.K.) was a field marshal of the British Army and served between 1921 and 1961. During World War II, he was commander of the 2nd Battalion, the 29th Infantry Brigade, and the 36th Division (Burma campaign). Following the War, Field Marshal Festing was a commander in Hong Kong, Egypt, and for the Far East Land Forces. This decorated officer ended his career as Chief of the Imperial General Staff.
