Edwards, Jonathan, 1847-1929
A native of Wales, Jonathan Edwards came to the United States in 1866. He graduated from theological seminary in 1876 and held various pastorates in the east until 1886, when he accepted a call to Westminster Congregational Church in Spokane Falls, W.T. He served that congregation until 1890 when he became financial agent for Whitman College, in Walla Walla, WA. He returned to Spokane in 1893 and continued to organize churches. He was an active writer on historical topics as well, including an ambitious history of Spokane County (1900) and many articles and shorter books. He retired to Portland, OR in 1924.
