Lord, John King, 1848-1926
Lord was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1868; he received his AM and PhD in 1893. He taught at Dartmouth College for over 40 years, serving as tutor of Latin, 1869-1872, associate professor of Latin and rhetoric, 1872-1880; Evans Professor of oratory and Belles Lettres, 1880-1882; associate professor of Latin. 1880-1892; Daniel Webster Professor of Latin, 1892-1916. He was acting president of the college, 1892-1893 and a trustee, 1917-1926.
