Stockton, William A. F., d. 1877.
The 140th Pennsylvania Volunteers Regiment was organized on September 8, 1862. The regiment took part in the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Petersburg Crater. William A.F. Stockton was the son of Rev. John Stockton of Cross Creek (Washington County, Pa.). He served in Company K as a Captain until brevetted Major on April 9, 1865. He died in North Carolina in 1877.
