Hampton, Mary Elizabeth.
Ira J. Chase was Governor of Indiana, 1891-1893. His wife was Rhoda Jane Chase. They were the parents of Electa who married Horace G. Murphy. Electa and Horace Murphy adopted a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. She married Charles G. Hampton in 1924. Material in the collection was handed down from Rhoda to Electa and then to Mary Elizabeth.
