Muggoch, Helen Milne Lawson (b1915 : science graduate : University of Glasgow, Scotland)
Helen Milne Lawson Muggoch was born in Kilmarnock in 1915. Helen attended the University of Glasgow from 1933-1937 , taking classes in Botany, Chemistry and Natural Philosophy in her first year; Botany (Higher) and Zoology in her second; Zoology (Double) and Botany (3rd Year) in her third year and Botany (Honours) in her fourth and final year. She was awarded a certificate of merit for her work in the Zoology practical class in 1935. She graduated with a first class honours BSc in Botany in June 1937 and subsequently worked briefly as a teacher until she married James Cameron Purse Logan (MBChB 1938) in December 1939. She then accompanied Dr Logan to Africa where he worked as a medical missionary, initially with the Church of Scotland mission leprosy service and later with the Nigerian government's own leprosy scheme. On their return to Scotland in 1950, she became chairman of the Glasgow committee of LEPRA.
