Chemist, academic. Joined Chemistry Department, University of Sydney in 1929; appointed Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the New South Wales University of Technology (from 1958 the University of New South Wales) in 1955. Head, School of Chemistry 1956-1968 and Dean, Faculty of Science 1968-1969. Publications include The role of science and industry (1958) in Australia's official war history, civil series.
