University Area Women of Rotary

The University Area Women of Rotary was organized in 1948 . The active membership consisted of the wives of the members of the University Rotary Club, Houston, Texas. The organization engaged in two major philanthropic projects, a nursing scholarship endowment fund and donations to the Houston Area Women's Center. The group's social activities included parties, teas, luncheons and fundraising events. Because of a drop in membership, the organization disbanded effective as of September 1, 1990 . The members were then invited to join with the Women of Rotary of Houston District 589.
