Kohlhase, Charles.

Charles E. Kohlhase was born August 15, 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physics from Georgia Tech in 1957 and a special master's of science degree from UCLA in 1968. After spending two years in the U.S. Navy, Kohlhase joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 1959. Kohlhase was associated with the Mariner and Viking Projects before Voyager. In December 1974, he was named Mission Analysis and Engineering Manager of Mariner Jupiter/Saturn 1977, which was later renamed Voyager. After fifteen years with Voyager, Kohlhase was appointed in 1990 to be Science and Mission Design Manager for the Cassini joint U.S./European mission to Saturn and its moon Titan.
