Lummis, Cynthia M. (Cynthia Marie), 1954-

Cynthia Marie Lummis Wiederspahn (born September 10, 1954) is an American politician and attorney serving as the junior United States Senator from Wyoming. She is the first woman to represent Wyoming in the Senate. A member of the Republican Party, she served as the U.S. Representative for Wyoming's at-large congressional district from 2009 to 2017.

Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she enrolled in the University of Wyoming in Laramie, obtaining two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in animal science in 1976 and one in biology in 1978. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming in 1985 and clerked for the Wyoming Supreme Court. Lummis began her political career as the acting director of the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. before being elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives, serving there from 1979 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1993. She was a member of the Wyoming Senate from 1993 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997, Lummis served as general counsel to Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer. From 1999 to 2007, she served as the 27th Treasurer of Wyoming.
