Thomas Asylum for Orphan and Destitute Indian Children (Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, N.Y.). Board of Managers.
The Thomas Asylum, founded in 1855, was named for benefactor Philip E. Thomas. Originally private, it became a state institution in 1875. In 1905, the name was changed to Thomas Indian School. The school closed in 1957.
