Papal States. Congregazione militare.

Established by Pius VII in 1797 from the combination of the Commissariato della mare (ID VATV791-A) and Commissariato delle armi (ID VATV792-A). In 1800 the congregation was made dependent on the secretary of state (ID VATV035-A). After being abolished by the Roman republic and later by the French, the congregation was reestablished in 1801 and 1815, respectively. In 1828, Gregory XVI transformed it into the Presidenza delle armi (ID VATV661-A).
