The North Boulder Club was established as a social club in 1936. Women of the First Christian Church of Boulder belonged to either "North Boulder Club" or "South Boulder Club", both of which functioned as church auxiliary groups.
In an effort to promote greater unity among the church club members, church officials reorganized the two clubs so that the women of North and South Boulder would be encouraged to socialize. The women of the North Boulder Club, having a strong sense of affinity with their own club members, established a new, non- church oriented North Boulder Club as an independent organization to protest the church action.
