Illinois State Federation of Labor

The Illinois State Federation of Labor (now known as the Illinois AFL-CIO) met for its first annual convention in Chicago in 1884. The Illinois State Federation of Labor was the state-wide federation of labor unions and an arm of the American Federation of Labor. As such, the Illinois State Federation of Labor both sought to organize workers and worked for labor legislation at the state level.
