Evangelist, founder of Word of Life ministry; born John von Casper Wyrtzen on April 22, 1913; honorary degree from Hawthorne Evening Bible School; organized Word of Life Fellowship, 1940; founded Word of Life Bible School, 1942; purchased Schroon Lake for Word of Life camp, ca 1946; opened camps in other cities in U.S. and in countries around the world; traveled as an evangelist; died April 17, 1996.
