KVFD (Radio station : Fort Dodge, Iowa).

In 1943 Fort Dodge radio station KVFD launched the Your Letter from Home project based on a similar project begun by a radio station in Montgomery, Alabama. Station staff composed letters with news of home and fellow soldiers for service men and women from Fort Dodge, Webster County and various other northwest Iowa locales. On Tuesdays evenings as many as 55 women of the Wan Tan Ye Club (created by Red Cross activist Mary Dolliver) would gather to address the letters to the men and women serving overseas during World War II and the Korean War. The station also conducted a daily radio broadcast which featured highlights from return letters sent to the radio station from participating service personnel. Over the life of the project the station received over 26,000 letters and at its peak letters were being sent to 5500 soldiers. .
