Aram, Joseph, 1810-1898.
Joseph Aram, pioneer resident of Santa Clara County, came to California with his family from Illinois in 1846. He served as a captain in the Mexican War, as a delegate to the first California Consitutional Convention, and as a member of the first state legislature. He established the first tree nursery in San Jose, where he lived from 1849-1898. Of Joseph Aram's five children, only two (Eugene and Sarah) reached old age.
