Northern Pacific Beneficial Association
Organized in 1882, the Association provided medical, surgical and hospital care for Northern Pacific employees, centralized in the creation of 7 hospitals: Brainerd, Minnesota (1882); Missoula, Montana (1888); Tacoma, Washington (1905); Glendive, Montana (1913); Pasco, Washington (1914); Staples, Minnesota (1919); and St. Paul, Minnesota (1921)--the last of which supplanted the Brainerd hospital.
