Crane Island Association.
The Crane Island Association was founded in 1906, the brainchild of Charles E. Woodward. Woodward, along with a group of other families, mostly parishioners of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, purchased the land on the island in Lake Minnetonka and formed an association with the purpose of creating a community of summer homes. The association called for private ownership of 26 individual lots and a common ground and was governed by a board of directors.
In 1991 the island community was placed on the National Historic Register.
